::: DRY, SUNNY AND WARM :::

SUMMARY FOR THE NEXT 6 DAYS -//> UPDATED FOR SATURDAY, JULY 31st...Today through Monday -> Dry west breezes, sunny, warm; Dry air continues across the area, with mainly late day west breezes/ winds and sunny skies as a low pressure trough deepens across the Northwest US.

Tuesday through Thursday -> Warmer, mostly light breezes; We remain dry ad the flow aloft is westerly. High pressure starts to rebound, and expand across the southern US from California east to The Rocky Mountains. This places us under mostly sunny skies and in dry conditions, with not much wind.

Long range forecast / discussion...August 05 to 08

--High pressure ridging aloft continues centered to the South mainly, and a generally troughy (low pressure, unsettled) region continues over the Northwest US. Mostly sunny skies and near average temperatures are expected through next week. Isolated thunderstorms/ showers develop across the area after the 7th as high pressure strengthens across the west, and a southeast flow of winds aloft develops, importing some moisture.

The El Nino SST pattern is now neutral, and a La Nina SST pattern will likely take over for the coming fall/ winter, through possibly the season following (through 2012). This could go either way for northern California resorts, with the Northwest US in general usually receiving above average rain and snow. We will work up some comparisons of previous La Nina years this summer, in preparation for the upcoming season. CM
