OVERALL SITUATION--A dry northerly flow sets up for the rest of this week and weekend. Cold temps return as well to freeze/ice things back up (frozen/loose granular) but it helps out with more snowmaking (a good snowmaking window through the weekend!). A storm track too far from the north is very dry so only occassional chances of snow showers are likely. This also blocks incoming storms from the west--the late weekend chance may be stiffled a bit too much. Continued cold and dry early next week.
Today thru Sunday--*Cold, Dry Stretch* The pattern starts to reconfigure a bit--one storm scoots by to our south out to sea today. A light batch of snow showers drifts in from the north overnight but accumulations will be minimal at best. Surface high pressure through central Canada tries to edge in a bit with a dry flow for us on Saturday--the sunniest of the weekend days with light northerly breezes (very little summit windchills). Watching a cut-off low drifting in from the west on Sunday--tricky timing. It will likely get deflected just to our south by a reinforcing cold front from the north. Light snow showers are possible during the day (northern resorts) but accumulations will be very minor if any--keeping the forecast dry for most areas and chilly for now but watching closely.
Monday and Tuesday--Continued surface high pressure into Monday keeps us dry and chilly--watching late day clouds and overnight snow showers for northern resorts. A reinforcing surge of cold air (cold front) arrives early Tuesday with a light round of snow showers (limited moisture again) followed by surface high pressure and sunshine on Wednesday--CT

Long range forecast / discussion...February 09 to 13
We've been close to getting some storms but all the pieces just haven't been there. We still expect upper level troughing to linger just to our north. This helps keep us seasonably cold but the storm track just a little too dry and deflecting potential storms out to sea. We could see some moisture from the south sneak in later next week which would help form a decent coastal storm if the timing is right--we'll be watching closely. Until then, mostly dry and chilly--CT
