6-day Forecast Discussion Updated for Thursday, May 15, 2008

OVERALL SITUATION TODAY through Saturday -//> We see record strong building high pressure ridging aloft, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures actually becoming hot, with highs in the 70's/ 80's for the Resort areas, and into the 90's/ 100's in the Valley areas. Dry northeast breezes are expected (actually windy to start on Thursday as low pressure drops through Arizona).

Sunday and Monday -//> The record strong high pressure ridging aloft begins weakening, but still strong overhead. Mostly sunny skies continue, and temperatures remain very warm (some cooling for the first part of next week). CM

Long range forecast / discussion...May 21 to 24

--After temperatures in the 70's next Tuesday, temperatures move back up under sunny skies and a re-building ridge of high pressure Wednesday and Thursday of next week. By the 27th/ 28th, low pressure forms offshore and carves a trough of lower pressure over the Western US. This should cause some clouds and west winds mostly, along with cooling of temperatures. We do not see any precipitation, but will watch for the possibility. Early June may become windy and cooler, we will watch. CM
