Terry Peak Ski Area is positioned geographically to receive substantial snowfall through the winter months thanks to its location in the Northern Black Hills, at elevations of 5,900-ft to over 7,000-ft. More snow falls on the Northern Black Hills than anywhere else does in the region. It's common for snowfall predictions to exceed up to three times of what was anticipated or to receive snowfall at 5,500-ft and higher when snow wasn't expected at all.
