Snowforecast.com provides
the only quality, free, non-National Weather Service snow/ weather
forecast to selected California Ski/ Snowboard enthusiasts which is
actually sponsored and used by the resorts represented. Despite resort
sponsorship, we do not pad our forecasts to get people to the resorts,
we just tell people what we think the weather is going to do. The
process is slow as we gain trust through forecast
performance. We are going on our 6th year of internet-based resort
weather forecasting (2003-2004'). The forecast is now accepted and
used as the official internet snow/ weather forecast of choice for
all the major Southern California Mountain Resorts (Mountain High
Resort, Big Bear Mountain Resorts, and Snow Valley Mountain resort)
+ Aspen-Snowmass, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Crested Butte, Durango
Mountain, Sunlight Mountain, and Winter Park in Colorado...with more
on the way. We also just signed on Taos Ski Valley in New Mexico for
year around forecasts also sponsored by the local Taos Ski Valley
Chamber of Commerce.
Through a gained forecasting reputation by snowforecast.com and personal
meetings with many of the resort's representatives, each Resort is
providing it's customers with the snowforecast.com snow/ weather forecast
linked directly from their respective homepages and snow report internet
pages. This provides the entire Southern California Ski/ Snowboard
market (huge and trend setting) and most of Colorado's mountain resort
visitors with the snowforecast.com snow/ weather forecast. The potential
to grab the attention of these markets via the internet is unprecedented
using the snowforecast.com site!
Describing the audience at snowforecast.com would be comparable to
looking at a mountain resort's customers. Many customers are from
.edu domains (educational institutions), were professionals like Doctors,
Technicians, and Teachers. In a nutshell...anyone who would strap
or click themselves in to a set of skis or a snowboard and care enough
about their sport to check the weather forecast for long or short
range planning purposes. We also get many visitors from all over the
world who come to Colorado to ski or board.
The 1998-1999 season ended with 20,000+ page views per month with
only word-of-mouth advertising! (1999-2000) 1.2 million (whole season),
or about 200,000 (monthly) page views were recorded! The 2000-2001
season saw about 1.5 million page views, and we are now showing well
over 2 million page views and over 600,000 unique visitors as of the
02-03' season. We expect more this year (through the 03-04' winter
season)! These are highly targeted.
