MOST RECENT DISCUSSION
Thursday May 02, 2024 - Weather Discussion

The resort is closed for winter ops. Today a fast moving and compact system moves through with some light snow showers and barely some accumulation, best this evening, overnight. Friday is a down day between storms, then a BIG storm moves through Saturday and Sunday with potentially a foot of snow across the mountains. Light snow is expected each day next week as the pattern remains unsettled, then a big ridge builds in across the Pacific Northwest, for sunny weather late next week.

LONGER RANGE: Nothing eventful, more high pressure than low pressure, so increasing sunshine as we go. More details are coming...

SEASON OUTLOOK - Through May and June expect increasing sunny weather under high pressure ridging. Meteorologist/ Chris Manly

The resort is closed for winter ops. Today through Wednesday expect 2 low pressure systems to move through, with light snow showers expected, some accumulation possible. Temperatures (and snow leves) really drop today with a fairly strong cold front. Thursday looks mostly sunny, followed by a shot of potential snow in the evening, overnight. Friday and the weekend looks mostly sunny and warmer, very nice.

LONGER RANGE: Unsettled conditions are possible next week through the 10th, then high pressure ridging and warming, sunny skies, May 11 onward.

OLDER DISCUSSION
Thursday April 25, 2024 - Weather Discussion

The resort is closed for winter ops. A low pressure system moves in today and through Friday, progressively cooler, and with snow levels going from 7,500 late today to 6,000 feet on Friday, as low pressure is clearing out. Another low pressure system brushes by to the north on Saturday, with cooling and some snow dusting the area early and late. Sunday and Monday continue unsettled with light snow at times, chilly, no, to very light, snow accumulations expected.

LONGER RANGE: Tuesday and Wednesday (30 April, 1 May) high pressure ridging and milder temperatures, mostly sunny skies are expected, but short-lived, with more storms coming on a frequent basis May 2-5, a brief break, then another shot of low pressure, showers, potential light snow but mostly rain between the 7th and 10th, but trending toward stronger high pressure and warming, sunny skies, May 10 onward.

SEASON OUTLOOK - Through June expect more precip than usual for southern Idaho, with frequent west coast storms sending showers and some high mountain snow into the region. Of course this will be broken up by sunny high pressure ridges, but more storms than usual are expected through this June, maybe into early July. Meteorologist/ Chris Manly

OLDER DISCUSSION
Thursday April 18, 2024 - Weather Discussion

Today and Friday, Saturday, expect noticeably increasing temperatures, cooler with a cold front on Sunday, season closing last day, then light snow falls all next week as low pressure persistently moves into the western US.

LONGER RANGE: The last days of April are looking busy with low pressure systems affecting the region with snow and cold air. Early May might return to strong high pressure ridging and warm temperatures, but short-lived, with more storms coming on a frequent basis.

SEASON OUTLOOK - Through June expect more precip than usual for southern Idaho, with frequent west coast storms sending mostly snow into Bogus Basin through April. Of course this will be broken up by sunny high pressure ridges, but more storms than usual are expected through this June, maybe into early July. Meteorologist/ Chris Manly

OLDER DISCUSSION
Monday April 15, 2024 - Weather Discussion

Today looks unsettled in upper-level weather pattern, but just an isolated snow shower maybe this afternoon, otherwise we should see mostly sun and cooler temperatures for Bogus Basin. Tuesday and Wednesday expect low pressure to the north with snow there, and noticeably colder temperatures, some wind, some clouds for Bogus Basin, and an isolated snow shower. By Thursday and Friday, Saturday, expect slowly increasing temperatures, then light snow falls after closing day, Sunday night and Monday, with a fast moving system. The trend next week is for mostly sunshine and high pressure ridging, then active weather again that weekend (26th or so).

LONGER RANGE: We expect sunshine and milder temperatures most of next week after closing, as a big high pressure ridge builds in across the Northwest US. After the 25th of April is looking fairly busy with low pressure systems affecting the region with snow and cold air. Early May might return to strong high pressure ridging and warm temperatures.
